In Christ the power of sin is broken and we can choose to build our life in this truth no matter how we feel. Anyways there will be times that we are tempted.
"Watch and pray that you may not enter into
temptation.
The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
-Matthew 26:41
If you think you are strong, you should be careful not to fall. The
only temptation that has come to you is that which everyone has. But
you can trust God, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you
can stand. But when you are tempted, he will also give you a way to
escape so that you will be able to stand it.
-1 Corinthians 10:12-13
But there is a way to resist the temptation and it's so great that we don't have to fight alone but God is with us and He is faithful and He is willing to help us and He will provide a way out it.
The temptation always starts with a thought. So that's why it's good to decide ahead of time how to resist temptation.
First of all we have to submit to God.
So give yourselves completely to God.
Stand against the devil, and the devil will run from you.
-James 4:7
With God we can resist the Devil.
And one of the best ways to resist a temptation is to eliminate it.
Do NOT put yourself in tempting situations!
Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.
-Proverbs 4:15
It is said Whatever you resist persists.
So instead of obsessing
over resisting your temptation,
acknowledge it and find something to replace it
with.
Believe and remember that sin's power over is broken and good way is to exercise that is to
confess with your mouth and believe in your heart as you say the powerful words:
"I'M DEAD TO THAT"
Declare that over your temptation
and you will begin to change!
So remember this:
